Senior officer of the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Mehtab Singh Deswal, has assumed the role of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOIC) of Eastern Air Command (EVC). This role is vital for strengthening the strategic security and aviation capabilities of the Eastern region.

Air Marshal Mehtab Singh Deswal has taken charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOIC) of the Indian Air Force’s Eastern Air Command. With this change, he bid farewell to Air Marshal A.V.S.M. and Air Marshal V.M. from their previous posts. After a career of more than 30 years serving in the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Deswal has held several key operational and administrative positions, including serving as the head of the Air Force’s Central Command and as the Deputy Commander of the Eastern Air Command.

The Eastern Air Command, located on India’s eastern frontier, covers a geopolitically significant area along the country’s borders. This area primarily shares borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar and China, and is crucial for air defence, border security and emergency response. Air Marshal Deswal taking over as AOIC will further strengthen the Air Force’s strategic capabilities, especially in promoting the latest pilot training programmes, integrating advanced aeronautical technology and enhancing regional defence cooperation.

Assigning him this responsibility, senior Air Force officials said that Air Marshal Deswal’s experience and leadership style will help improve the efficiency and readiness of the Eastern Air Command. They intend to implement the latest technology and strategic plans in the coming year to meet regional security challenges. With this change, the Eastern Air Command is prepared to increase its capability and reaffirm its commitment to national security.
