The Seema Road Organization celebrated the foundation day of its 19-year-old development project today in Arunank, Arunachal Pradesh, with great enthusiasm, in a ceremony that saw extensive participation from the local administration, security forces, and the public.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) celebrated the 19th foundation day of its flagship development project, the Arunank Project, in the remote Arunank region of Arunachal Pradesh with a special ceremony. The organisation’s chief executive officer, the head of the state’s wildlife and environment department, and representatives of regional security agencies participated in the event. Local urban bodies, village panchayats and the general public of Arunank were also invited, where they discussed the project’s socio‑economic impacts and future plans. In this programme, BRO highlighted the work undertaken over the past two decades in constructing roads, bridges and climate‑resilient infrastructure in Arunank, which has led to notable improvements in the region’s connectivity, health services and educational facilities.
Since the project’s inception, connectivity to major national highways in Arunank has increased, providing local farmers and traders with easier access to markets. Additionally, BRO has implemented several water‑conservation and afforestation programmes with environmental protection in mind, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. On this foundation day, BRO announced plans for the next five years to extend an additional 150 kilometres of roads, construct two new bridges, and develop high‑speed internet infrastructure to strengthen digital connectivity.
During the cultural programme organised on the foundation day, local artists performed traditional songs and dances, earning appreciation for the project’s contribution to social integration. Residents described the initiative as a “life‑changing” development, noting that better roads have made reaching health centres easier and have significantly reduced travel time to educational institutions. Expectations are also being voiced that future strategic infrastructure‑development initiatives by the Border Roads Organisation will continue to bolster national security, economic growth and social inclusion.
