An overturning of a tour vehicle that came from Munnar on the hilly roads of Wayanad caused the death of two passengers and injuries to many others, prompting the local administration to initiate emergency assistance and an investigation.

A tour bus overturning on a winding mountain road in Kerala’s Wayanad district proved fatal for several passengers. The vehicle, which was carrying a tourist group to Munnar, suddenly lost control and tipped to the left, resulting in the deaths of two passengers and serious injuries to many others. Local emergency services rushed to the scene and took the injured to the nearest hospital, where they are receiving treatment. The identities of the deceased have not yet been officially confirmed, but early reports indicate they were members of the same group who boarded at the beginning of the journey.

Following the incident, police have launched a strict investigation in the area. An initial survey suggests that a sharp turn and sudden high speed may have played a major role in the crash. Both Wayanad and Munnar are major tourist hubs, where a notable increase in the number of travelers is observed during the winter months. The local administration has stated that safety measures on such mountain roads need to be strengthened, including adherence to speed limits, regular vehicle maintenance, and special training for drivers.

Tourism industry representatives also expressed deep sorrow over the incident and said that stricter regulations should be implemented in the future to ensure passenger safety. Meanwhile, the local government of Wayanad has pledged financial assistance to the affected families and assured that appropriate steps will be taken after a full investigation into the causes of the accident.
