Union Home and Co‑operatives Minister Amit Shah, with the cooperation of the Chandigarh administration, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth Rs 258 crore, which will boost infrastructure and the efficiency of cooperative institutions in the capital region.

Central Home and Co‑operation Minister Mr. Amit Shah today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth 258 crore rupees at a special ceremony held at the headquarters of the Chandigarh administration. On this occasion, the Chief Minister, administrative officials and representatives of various cooperative institutions were present and praised the initiative. The minister said that these projects are aimed at strengthening the city’s infrastructure, along with housing, water‑sanitation, roads and public‑facility expansion, as well as capacity building of cooperative institutions. He also noted that this investment will promote local employment generation and economic development, giving new momentum to Chandigarh’s overall progress.

The projects primarily include the construction of modern facilities for several residential cooperative groups, modernization of water‑supply and drainage systems, expansion of roads and public transport, and the establishment of skill‑development centres. For these works, the Chandigarh administration has already prepared a detailed plan and, together with various government agencies, has pledged to accelerate the implementation process. Through this initiative, cooperation between the centre and the state has also been strengthened, creating a model for similar development projects in the future.

Successful implementation of the projects will not only improve urban development in Chandigarh but also reinforce the role of cooperative institutions, directly benefiting citizens. Minister Amit Shah also said that the central government will continuously promote such collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and expects full cooperation from all concerned parties in this direction.
