Govind Mohan Announces Rapid Progress on National Unity Day 2026 and India Festival 2026 Preparations
In a press conference held in New Delhi, Central Home Secretary Mr. Govind Mohan stated that preparations for National Unity Day 2026 and India Festival 2026 are currently advancing at a rapid pace. He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs, state governments, and local administrations have jointly devised a comprehensive security plan, which includes deployment of special security forces in urban and rural areas, civil safety measures, and emergency response mechanisms. Specifically, for events to be held in Unity Town, more than 10,000 security personnel will be deployed, along with electronic surveillance, drone monitoring, and a mobile command center.
Additionally, Secretary Mohan highlighted that under India Festival 2026, delegations from more than 30 states and union territories have been invited to showcase the country's cultural diversity. The program will feature a wide range of traditional arts, music, dance, and cuisine, for which the necessary infrastructure—such as temporary exhibition venues, water supply, sanitation facilities, and public transport arrangements—has already been prepared. He noted that, keeping environmental sustainability in mind, waste management and recycling systems have also been strengthened.
Finally, the Home Secretary underscored that the main objective of National Unity Day 2026 is to reinforce the principles of national unity established by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, while India Festival 2026 will highlight the country's multicultural identity. He committed all relevant agencies to complete tasks on time and ensure the safety and convenience of the public.
