Central Minister of Agriculture, Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chauhan's visit to Haryana

Central Agriculture, Farmer Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan made successive visits to various districts of Haryana, where he evaluated ongoing initiatives for agricultural production, water conservation, and strengthening farmer incomes in collaboration with the state government. During this tour, he inspected Haryana’s major agricultural universities, water‑brother projects, and farmer groups, and also organized dialogue sessions with local farmers to hear their problems directly. The minister said the government’s goal is to promote technological innovation in agriculture, empower small and marginal farmers, and ensure effective management of water resources for sustainable development.

During the Haryana visit, the minister announced several new policies, notably affordable credit facilities, an expansion of seed and fertilizer subsidies, and the strengthening of agricultural services through digital platforms. He also organized special workshops to raise farmers’ awareness of modern horticultural techniques, water‑harvesting methods, and the benefits of crop insurance. The aim of this initiative is not only to increase production but also to bring lasting improvement to rural incomes by reducing agricultural risk.

The minister said that cooperation between the centre and the state needs to be further strengthened so that competitiveness in agriculture rises at the national level and farmers can secure a better position in the global market. The head of Haryana’s agriculture department also highlighted the importance of this cooperation, stating that many pilot projects will be implemented in the upcoming agricultural year, which will ensure both economic benefits for farmers and environmental sustainability.
