In 2026, the Shilp Samagam fair was organized in Mysuru, where the state's leading artisans and designers showcased their artistic creations, thereby promoting cultural heritage and infusing new energy into the local economy.

The 2026 Craft Confluence Fair was successfully concluded in the royal palace grounds near the historic Pondicherry Gate in Mysuru. The fair was jointly organized by the Karnataka Handicrafts and Tailoring Development Corporation and the Mysuru Tourism Department, aiming to showcase the state's rich craft heritage to a broad audience and encourage young artisans. The fair featured a wide array of traditional and modern crafts such as pottery, weaving, wood carving, glass art, and ceramics.

More than 150 stalls were set up at the fair, featuring not only local artisans but also artists from other parts of South India. In particular, stalls showcasing Mysuru's famous satin and bamboo weaving created a special buzz among visitors, while digital printing and eco‑friendly crafts presented by young designers also generated considerable interest. Organizers said that this year more than 30,000 visitors attended the fair and more than 500 craft items were sold, resulting in a notable increase in artisans' income.

Such fairs not only protect cultural heritage but also create new employment opportunities in rural areas. The success of the Mysuru Craft Confluence Fair demonstrates that Karnataka's craft policy and community support are giving traditional crafts a new identity in the modern market. Plans are being made to replicate this model in other major cities in the coming year.
