High-level review meeting of preparations for Kashi Tamil Sangam 5.0 at Banaras Hindu University

Banaras Hindu University conducted a detailed assessment of the preparations for this multicultural festival in a high‑level review meeting organized for Kashi Tamil Sangam 5.0. The meeting was attended by BHU’s Vice‑Chancellor, Professor Ajay Kumar, the head of the Tamil Nadu Department of Culture, representatives of the Tamil Nadu government, and experts from several Indian cultural institutions. Referring to the successes and challenges of the previous four editions, they discussed plans to make this year’s Sangam more inclusive, technologically advanced, and environmentally conscious.

The meeting primarily decided on the program schedule, stage arrangements, participant selection, financial sources, and use of digital platforms. BHU proposed that major academic departments work collaboratively, so that dialogue can be established between Tamil and North Indian artists in the fields of music, dance, literature, and science. On the financial front, steps will be taken to strengthen participation of private sponsors along with the central government’s cultural promotion fund. Additionally, to keep environmental impact minimal, waste management, water conservation, and solar energy usage were made mandatory.

Specifically, to reach a global audience digitally, a dedicated online portal and live‑streaming service will be developed for Sangam 5.0. This initiative will increase awareness of Tamil culture not only within India but also internationally. All parties expressed commitment to establishing this platform as a model for integrating Indian cultural diversity, and resolved to swiftly implement the execution plan in the next phase.
