Banaras Hindu University Conducts High‑Level Meeting to Review Preparations for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 5.0

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) convened a high‑level meeting to review the preparations for the 5.0 edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam. The meeting was attended by BHU’s Vice Chancellor, the head of the Cultural Department, a representative from Tamil Nadu’s Cultural Committee, an officer from the Uttar Pradesh Government’s Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and representatives of major socio‑cultural organisations. All discussed progress toward establishing the Sangamam’s fifth edition as a multidisciplinary platform that will bring together literature, music, dance, crafts, and academic dialogue.

The meeting analysed the successes and challenges of the previous four editions, leading to strategic decisions to ensure better infrastructure, a detailed programme schedule, and broader participation for this year’s event. Key points included making the ancient heritage site of Kashi the main stage, inviting leading artists and scholars from Tamil Nadu, and actively involving local youth and academic institutions. Funding allocations at both central and state levels were confirmed, and participation from private sponsors and cultural foundations was secured.

Special attention was given to technical aspects; plans were made to incorporate digital streaming, virtual‑reality exhibitions, and interactive workshops into the programme, enabling remote audiences to join this cultural convergence. All parties praised the initiative as an opportunity to strengthen India‑Tamil Nadu cultural ties and establish Varanasi as an international cultural hub. Following the meeting, a working committee was formed to implement the detailed action plan in the next phase.
