The Ministry of Women and Child Development discussed steps to strengthen Hindi in government functions through language policy, digital content, and workshops during a high-level meeting of its Hindi Advisory Committee.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Annapurna Devi, chaired a high‑level meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Senior officials of the ministry, language experts, and representatives of various state governments participated in the meeting. The primary objective was to strengthen the use of Hindi across all ministry programmes, schemes and communication channels and to formulate strategic guidelines for its effective implementation. The committee assessed the current status of Hindi integration in existing documents, training modules and digital platforms, and identified areas where language‑related challenges persist.

The meeting also resolved that Hindi‑based multimedia material will be developed in the upcoming financial year for the promotion of key schemes related to women’s safety, child nutrition and infant health. In addition, regular Hindi‑training workshops for staff in the ministry’s various departments were proposed, along with the establishment of a coordination platform at the state level to align with local languages. The committee further indicated that, in the future, making all government orders, guidelines and reports available in Hindi will be mandatory, which will not only enhance administrative efficiency but also ensure accurate dissemination of information to rural and marginalized communities.

Consequently, the committee presented a detailed action plan that includes the appointment of language experts, development of a digital toolkit, and collaboration with various NGOs and academic institutions to strengthen Hindi at the national level. This initiative expresses the hope that policy implementation and awareness in the field of women and child development will improve, and that Hindi can be established as a principal medium in government operations.
