India has called for balanced and ambitious outcomes at the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP31, based on resilience, practicality, and mutual respect. This appeal underscores the need for an inclusive and pragmatic approach to achieve global climate goals.

India demanded a balanced and ambitious climate programme at this year’s COP31, prioritising flexibility, practicality and mutual respect. The appeal is underpinned by the belief that a single approach cannot suit all countries. For developing nations, it is essential to ensure economic growth and energy security while tackling climate change. India highlighted the experience shown in its previous COP meetings, stating that global climate action requires flexibility and adaptability so that all parties can adopt measures suited to their national circumstances.

India’s message also indicates that it wants to emphasise not only ambitious targets but also practical implementation at the climate summit. It underscored that without mutual respect and trust, no coordinated effort can be sustainable. Thus, India described COP31 as a platform where both developing and developed countries receive equal voice, so that the goal of reducing global greenhouse gas emissions can be made more inclusive and effective.

With this appeal, India made clear that a multifaceted strategy is essential to tackle climate change—
