The labor dialogue held in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, provided comprehensive training and awareness sessions to increase understanding of the newly enacted labor codes across the state and to strengthen the capacities of local officials and employers.

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh – Labour Dialogue Successfully Conducts Two‑Day Regional Capacity‑Building and Awareness Programme in Ujjain

The Labour Dialogue, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Madhya Pradesh Labour Department, successfully conducted a two‑day regional capacity‑building and awareness programme in Ujjain. This initiative provides a platform for district industrial officers, labour inspectors, representatives of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and trade union leaders from various districts of the state to ensure effective implementation of the new Labour Codes.

The programme included detailed lectures, case studies, and interactive workshops on key provisions of the Labour Code—such as minimum wage, social security, workplace safety, and employment creation. Experts highlighted compliance strategies tailored to local conditions, presenting measures for employers to understand statutory obligations and for workers to be informed of their rights.

Given Ujjain's economic landscape, which features a diversity of industrial units, agriculture‑based enterprises, and the service sector, the importance of this programme is amplified. In recent years, the government has adopted several corrective measures to reduce labour disputes and compliance gaps, yet a lack of ground‑level awareness remains a challenge. In this context, the Labour Dialogue also introduced a plan to provide real‑time grievance redressal and information dissemination through digital platforms and mobile applications.

Participating officials said that such training will not only improve regulatory compliance but also positively impact workers' welfare and productivity. The possibility of replicating this model in other districts and creating an integrated training network at the national level is being considered for the future.
