The Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Sudhanshu Pant, greeted the members of the newly formed DWBDNC governing body at the oath‑taking ceremony yesterday, thereby giving the institution a strong administrative foundation even at the initial stage of its operations.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has formally completed the formation of the governing body of the recently established DWBDNC (Digital Water Biodiversity National Corporation). Yesterday, the ministry’s Principal Secretary, Mr. Sudhanshu Pant, administered the oath to the newly appointed members of the governing body, highlighting the importance of the institution’s mission and scope of work. He said that the purpose of DWBDNC is to digitally monitor water resources, promote innovation for water conservation, and ensure the protection of water rights, which is directly linked to the principles of social justice. After the oath-taking, Secretary Pant appealed to all members to work under the principles of “equality, transparency, and accountability,” and also emphasized that recognizing water rights as a fundamental human right is the government’s priority.

The governing body comprises experts from various fields, environmental scientists, water management specialists, and social workers, who together will contribute to the formulation and implementation of water policy at the national level. Secretary Pant explained that the ministry will provide DWBDNC with the necessary resources, technical support, and policy guidance so that the institution can achieve its goals of water conservation and water security in a timely manner. Following this oath ceremony, the first meeting of DWBDNC will be convened soon, where strategic plans for water resource management will be discussed and initial steps for implementation will be decided. This initiative is seen as an important step toward strengthening water rights in India and achieving sustainable development goals.
