The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Nagpur organized a discussion on “Naxal Free India” and emphasized the need to strengthen security in Gadchiroli district, accelerate development work, and ensure active participation of the local community.
Press Information Bureau (PIB) Nagpur recently organized a comprehensive dialogue on the theme “Naxal Free India,” highlighting Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district as a focal point. The forum was attended by representatives from the central and state governments, security agencies, implementers of development schemes, and local social organizations. All agreed that to eradicate Naxalism from its roots, it is not only security measures but also economic development, expansion of basic facilities, and community participation that are necessary. The dialogue stated that in Gadchiroli, the activity of security forces has increased in recent years, but to establish sustained peace, it is essential to rapidly develop basic facilities such as education, health, water, and roads.
Representatives from the development side mentioned that currently several central‑state collaborative schemes, such as rural electrification, agricultural empowerment, and employment generation programs, are being implemented in Gadchiroli. They said that for the success of these schemes, participation of the local community is essential; therefore, village assemblies, women’s groups, and youth organizations are being involved in plan formulation and implementation. Security agencies also indicated that through continuous monitoring and information sharing, the role of local people is crucial in preventing Naxal activities. Thus, the dialogue presented a comprehensive approach toward “Naxal Free India” by placing security, development, and community participation in a triangular framework, which will lay the foundation for lasting peace and prosperity in sensitive areas such as Gadchiroli.
