During the BRICS summit, the Indian Prime Minister held an extensive discussion with the United Nations Secretary‑General on issues of strengthening global peace, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation.

In a special session held on the stage of the BRICS summit, the Indian Prime Minister met with the United Nations Secretary‑General, discussing several key points to strengthen international cooperation. Both leaders expressed a commitment to prioritize global peace and security, combating climate change, and expanding financial assistance for developing countries. The meeting particularly highlighted the collective role of BRICS nations in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and emphasized the need to increase BRICS contributions within the existing United Nations framework.

The Prime Minister proposed new initiatives to encourage multilateral trade and investment for developing nations, including digital infrastructure, clean energy technology, and cooperation in the health sector. He said that BRICS countries should play an active role in the United Nations reform process, especially regarding the expansion of representation in the Security Council and enhancing transparency in decision‑making procedures. The Secretary‑General welcomed these proposals and said that the United Nations will always be ready to work with all member states to find solutions to global challenges.

This meeting signals a deepening of strategic dialogue between the two institutions, which could establish new dimensions of multilateralism and international cooperation. Experts believe that such high‑level discussions will help make the voice of BRICS countries more influential on the global stage and also accelerate the United Nations' reform and development agenda.
