Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the progress in the khadi and village industries sector, job creation and export growth in his recent “Mann Ki Baat” broadcast, which infused new energy and confidence among artisans.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week, in his popular radio programme “Mann Ki Baat,” detailed the remarkable achievements of the Khadi and Village Industries (KGVF) sector. He said that under the government’s “Khadi 2.0” initiative and “Village Industries Development Scheme,” khadi production has increased two‑to‑threefold in recent years, and special platforms have been established to provide artisans with modern design, digital marketing and financial assistance. These measures have not only strengthened rural employment but also enhanced the export potential of khadi products on a global scale. The Prime Minister noted that the training centres run by KGVF equip thousands of artisans each year with the latest technologies, thereby improving the quality and competitiveness of their products.

In view of these achievements, the Prime Minister addressed the artisans directly, stating that their hard work and creativity are the backbone of the nation’s economic development. He said the government is continuously working to provide policy support, easy loan facilities and market access, so that artisans can become self‑reliant and elevate their socio‑economic status. On this occasion, several khadi artisans shared their stories, including entrepreneurs who started in small villages, gained national recognition and expanded their businesses. The Prime Minister also indicated that new initiatives will be launched in the future to reach more customers for khadi through digital platforms and e‑commerce, ensuring the sustainable development of rural industries.

Following these statements, representatives of the Khadi and Village Industries sector expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s support and said that this backing will energise the morale of artisans, motivating them to achieve higher standards of innovation and quality. Thus, “Mann Ki Baat” has positioned the development of khadi and village industries as a major agenda at the national level, bringing new hope for the future of rural artisans.
