Khadi Diwali Festival 2026 to be Held in Delhi's Connaught Place, Targeting Gen‑Z with Swadeshi Movement
This year, the Khadi Diwali Festival 2026 is being organized at Connaught Place, a major commercial hub in Delhi, with the primary aim of effectively conveying Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national appeal “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi” to Generation Z (Gen‑Z). This initiative has been prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Swadeshi and Cottage Industries, the Indian Handicrafts Development Council, and several state governments. The program will feature an exhibition of Khadi garments, weaving, embroidery, and gift items made from Swadeshi materials, interactive workshops, and a startup pitch session for young entrepreneurs. In particular, the plan is to increase engagement among the youth by using digital platforms, social media challenges, live streaming, and QR‑code based information.
The festival will also highlight the history of Khadi and the background of Mahatma Gandhi's Swadeshi movement. Participants will gain hands‑on experience in weaving, dyeing, and designing Khadi fabrics through workshops organized by prominent artisans and designers. Additionally, a series of cultural programmes featuring Indian classical music, dance, and theatre will be staged to raise awareness among Gen‑Z about the aesthetic and economic potentials of Swadeshi products.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Union Minister, the state chief, and several young social entrepreneurs, who spoke about the employment generation, environmental benefits, and national self‑respect of Swadeshi industries.
