In India, a new e-paper based paper cutting technology has promised remarkable improvements in efficiency and cost for the industry. This innovation helps reduce waste by 30% and lower environmental impact.

The e-Perpe paper cutting technology, launched by Industrilight Technology on 15 March 2024, has charted a new direction for the Indian paper industry. The system uses digital sensors and AI algorithms to automatically adjust the precise cutting location and thickness, thereby minimizing human error.

In recent years, the amount of waste in paper production had been steadily increasing, intensifying environmental pressure. Prior to the introduction of this technology, an average of 15% of waste was discarded during production. With the use of the e-Perpe system, this figure has been reduced to 30%, marking a significant milestone for the industry.

Industrilight Technology's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. R. Patil, said, “Our goal is to make every paper production unit more efficient and environmentally conscious. This technology not only enhances cutting precision but also reduces energy consumption.”

Several major paper manufacturers have recorded a 12% reduction in production costs after adopting this technology. Moreover, the system has also led to an 18% decrease in operational time on the production line, thereby increasing overall efficiency.

In the realm of environmental protection, this innovation has also proven effective in reducing the paper industry's carbon footprint. By 2025, more than 1,000 paper mills plan to implement the technology, expecting a reduction of 200,000 tonnes of waste.

Another feature of the e-Perpe cutting system is its adaptability to papers of various thicknesses and sizes. This enables both small and large factories to adopt it without a substantial capital investment.

In summary, the e-Perpe paper cutting technology has not only reduced production costs and waste but also steered the industry toward a more sustainable and competitive model. This step establishes a new benchmark for the Indian paper industry.
