The President of India offered a floral tribute on the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
President Draupadi Murmu today paid tribute at the memorial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his anniversary, reiterating Patel’s contribution as a symbol of India’s unity and integrity. She said, “Patel Ji united 565 small states of India to build an independent and complete nation. His ‘integrator’ role still reinforces the values of our national unity.” On this occasion, the President also invited ambassadors, political leaders, and living witnesses of the freedom struggle from various Indian states, thereby strengthening the message of national unity.
This year, several educational and cultural programs are being organized to commemorate Sardar Patel’s life and work. Leading academic institutions in Indian history have held special seminars on his contributions, where scholars highlighted his strategic foresight and administrative acumen in building the Indian Union. Additionally, a large public gathering has been scheduled near National Unity Day on 8 October, where the President will deliver the main address. Thus, Sardar Patel’s anniversary not only remembers his personal sacrifice but also underscores the importance of national unity and social harmony today.
