Following the stampede in Kolkata that claimed many civilian lives and left numerous injured, the Prime Minister expressed national mourning and conveyed deep sympathy to the victims' families.

A crowd crush that suddenly occurred during a densely attended event at a major public venue in Kolkata, far from the national capital, resulted in multiple deaths and many injuries. Police and emergency services deployed at the scene immediately began relief operations, while the local administration provided first aid to the victims before admitting them to hospitals. This accident exposed weaknesses in public safety and crowd management, intensifying demands for accountability and reforms at various levels.

The Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, “We stand with all the victims and their families in this tragic moment. The government will take all necessary steps to prevent such a tragedy from recurring.” He directed the concerned state government and local authorities to conduct a swift investigation, identify responsibilities, and implement stringent regulations to prevent similar events in the future. The Prime Minister also announced that the central government will provide a special fund to strengthen emergency response systems and upgrade safety standards at public venues.

Following the incident, several citizen organizations and social groups have emphasized the need to improve crowd-control measures, establish proper safety barriers, and launch public awareness campaigns. The state government has formed a special committee for an immediate inquiry and announced plans to provide financial and medical assistance to the victims. Thus, at the national level, both the government and society are expressing grief and demonstrating a commitment to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
