To chart a new direction for strategic cooperation between India and Canada, the leaders of the two countries held detailed talks on key issues such as trade, energy, security and climate change.

India's Prime Minister recently held an intensive and cordial bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Both leaders emphasized the need to deepen strategic partnership to strengthen mutual interests. Economic cooperation was highlighted as a key point of the talks, with agreements reached on measures to boost bilateral trade, facilitate the export‑import of goods and services, and strengthen the investment climate. In particular, there was a desire to accelerate joint projects in clean energy, technology, and digital infrastructure, providing both countries' industries with opportunities for new technological advancements and job creation.

In the area of defense and security, both sides also expressed a desire to expand cooperation. The possibility of establishing a shared platform for joint action on maritime security, cyber security, and counter‑terrorism was discussed. Additionally, proposals were made to enhance collaboration in the fight against climate change through mutual support in renewable energy sources, carbon capture technology, and environmental research.

Cultural and humanitarian ties were also considered an integral part of this strategic partnership. New initiatives were proposed to encourage social dialogue among the extensive diaspora communities of both countries, enhance educational exchanges, and facilitate tourism. Thus, the warm and meaningful conversation by the Prime Minister took concrete steps toward taking India‑Canada relations to new heights, laying out a clear roadmap for future collaboration between the two nations.
