In the meeting held in New Delhi, Home and Co‑operatives Minister Amit Shah had an extensive discussion with Prince Rahib Aga Khan V on social development, co‑operative reforms, and collaborative projects of the India‑Aga Khan Network.

At a special platform of a government department in New Delhi, the Union Home and Co‑operatives Minister Shri Amit Shah met Prince Rahib Aga Khan V. Both sides discussed measures to strengthen the initiatives of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in India’s ongoing socio‑economic programmes, especially in the fields of education, health and rural development. The meeting also covered potential collaborative models to promote innovation in the co‑operatives sector, support for small entrepreneurs and financial inclusion, so that economic empowerment in India’s rural and urban areas can be accelerated.

Prince Rahib Aga Khan V, who is the chief executive of the Aga Khan Development Network, referred to AKDN’s decades‑long presence in India and its work across various sectors. He noted that the network has established numerous universities, hospitals, water‑conservation projects and community development programmes in India, which align with the goals of social inclusion and sustainable development. To deepen cooperation with the Government of India, he proposed new initiatives, including the digitisation of co‑operative institutions, a dedicated fund for women entrepreneurs and technical support for improving urban infrastructure.

After the meeting, both sides pledged to establish regular dialogue in the future and to prepare joint action plans. Amit Shah said that the government is eager to incorporate the Aga Khan Network’s experience into India’s development agenda and that this cooperation will give a new direction to social equality and economic growth. Prince Rahib Aga Khan V also expressed a desire to increase his contribution to India’s diverse socio‑economic landscape, so that the strategic partnership between the two countries can be taken to new heights.
