The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the 2026 Joint Defence Service (JDS) Examination (I). This time, more than 1.5 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, and based on the cut‑off score, over 3,500 candidates were selected.

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the final results of the 2026 Combined Defence Services Examination (I). This examination selects candidates for the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Railway Protection Force, Indian Civil Defence Force and other defence‑related services. More than 1,57,000 candidates appeared for the exam, while 3,520 candidates were selected by attaining the minimum cutoff score. The selected candidates have been invited for appointment in the respective defence services under the 2027 annual recruitment programme. The results have been made available on the official UPSC website and candidates can receive the notification on their registered email or mobile number.

The JDS Examination (I) is divided into three stages: the first stage comprises multiple‑choice questions based on General Knowledge, General Science and English; the second stage includes questions based on Military Science, History and Geography; the third stage involves physical fitness and medical tests. This year’s cutoff score was around 550/1000, which is higher than last year’s 530/1000, indicating the intensity of competition. The commission stated that the selection process will be fully transparent and merit‑based. The selected candidates have been given one week to complete the required documents and registration for the next stage. Officials of the defence department and the respective services have begun preparing training programmes and deployment plans for the selected candidates.
