Vice President inaugurated “Navaratri Sarghotsavam 2026” in Kozhikode.

In the historic temple complex of Kozhikode, the formal inauguration of “Navaratri Sargotsavam 2026” was carried out today by the Vice President. The event was attended by the state’s leading cultural activists, scholars, and regional artists. In the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President highlighted the sacred significance of Navaratri and said that the festival not only strengthens religious traditions but also promotes social unity and cultural prosperity.

Navaratri Sargotsavam is an annual program that showcases Kozhikode’s distinctive cultural identity, featuring traditional bhajans, classical music and dance as well as contemporary creative performances. In the 2026 edition, special emphasis was placed on the theme “Confluence of Music and Dance”, with students from local schools and professional artists presenting joint performances. During the program, a panel discussion was also held, wherein experts deliberated on the historical, religious and social aspects of Navaratri.

After the Vice President’s inauguration, the attendees praised the government’s support for cultural preservation and the development of young talent. The local administration stated that from this year onward, additional efforts will be made to secure international recognition for “Navaratri Sargotsavam”, so that Kozhikode’s cultural heritage reaches a wider global audience. Thus, the Vice President’s inauguration elevated Navaratri Sargotsavam 2026 to a new height, establishing Kozhikode’s cultural heritage as a hallmark of contemporary India.
