Central Minister of State (Defense) Khadse describes the India–New Zealand Rugby Series as a major platform for sports diplomacy and youth development.

Central State Minister (Defense) Shri Shyam Sundar Khadse recently highlighted the India‑New Zealand Rugby Series, held earlier, as a significant tool of sports diplomacy. He explained that through this bilateral series, mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries are gaining new momentum, particularly in the areas of security, education, and culture. The Ministry of Defense provided the necessary security arrangements and logistical support for the event, ensuring a safe and smooth sporting environment. Khadse also underscored that rugby, which promotes teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness, helps develop confidence and leadership skills among India's youth.

During the Rugby Series, youth development programmes were organized, including coaching clinics, scholarships, and school‑level competitions, thereby expanding enthusiasm for the sport. Young athletes from both countries had the opportunity to train together and understand international standards, paving the way for the creation of more competitive teams in the future. Minister Khadse stated that this type of sports diplomacy not only strengthens bilateral relations but also presents India’s international image positively. He further added that the government will continue similar initiatives to empower youth through sport, thereby making the role of sport even more prominent in national development.
