Clarification on the Technology Development Board (TDB) closing the call for proposals under the RDI scheme

The Technology Development Board (TDB) stated in a clarification released today that the decision to close the proposal invitation under the R&D plan was taken for strategic and administrative reasons. The board said that the primary purpose of ending the proposal invitation is to complete a comprehensive review and evaluation of the received proposals in a timely manner, so that no irregularities occur in the selection process. This step was taken in view of the increasing number of applicants and the complexity of proposals in diverse technical fields over the past two years. The board also emphasized that after the closure all received documents will be securely stored and the selection committee will have ample time to evaluate them based on detailed technical and commercial criteria.

The R&D plan, established in India to encourage innovation and strengthen technology, aims to provide financial assistance to start‑ups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and research institutions. Under this plan, several successful prototypes and commercial products were developed in earlier rounds, helping to enhance competitiveness across various industries. TDB said that after the proposal closure, the results of the selection process will be made public promptly and new guidelines will be issued for the next phase.
