The NITI Aayog and international mining technology company TEXMiN have signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote technological innovation, sustainable development, and investment in India’s mineral sector, thereby strengthening the country’s strategic mineral security.

With the aim of making India’s mineral ecosystem globally competitive, the NITI Aayog today signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with textile and mining‑technology company TEXMiN. Under this agreement, both parties will jointly accelerate the use of advanced digital technology, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) at every stage of mineral exploration, extraction, processing and recycling. The combination of TEXMiN’s global experience and NITI Aayog’s policy‑making capability will help India increase self‑reliance in essential raw materials, tighten environmental standards and empower local entrepreneurs with technology.

The main objective of this initiative is to secure and make transparent the supply chain of India’s strategic minerals such as Lithium, Cobalt, Graphite and Rare Earth Elements. The two institutions plan to jointly establish a national mineral database, attract investment in mining projects and develop a skilled workforce through training programmes. NITI Aayog said that this collaboration aligns with India’s “mineral self‑reliance” goal, which aims to halve import dependence on major minerals by 2030.

In addition, the agreement includes environmental impact assessments, water conservation and measures to reduce carbon emissions to adopt sustainable mining practices. TEXMiN stated that its technology platform will play a crucial role in making India’s mineral industry more efficient, lower‑cost and environmentally friendly. The collaboration is expected to enable India not only to meet domestic mineral demand but also to expand its export capacity in the international market.
