CSIR‑CRRI has inaugurated the Indian Airport Footpath Seminar (IAPS 2026) at the regal venue in New Delhi, where the latest research and technological innovations for aviation infrastructure will be discussed.

At the prestigious conference centre in New Delhi, senior officials of CSIR‑CRRI formally inaugurated the Indian Airport Pavement Symposium (IAPS 2026). The purpose of the event is to assess the current condition of the key components of India's aviation infrastructure – runways, taxiways and terminal pavements – and to present sustainable, cost‑effective and environmentally‑friendly solutions. Representatives of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, professors from leading universities and senior industry officials attended the inauguration ceremony.

During the symposium, CSIR‑CRRI presented its latest research reports, highlighting the potential of using advanced paving materials, smart sensor networks and automated maintenance systems to extend pavement life and reduce accidents. Experts noted that currently the condition of pavements at more than 70 percent of India's airports is below ‘satisfactory’, leading to flight delays and increased maintenance costs.

Over the next three days, panel discussions, workshops and exhibitions will be held, showcasing the latest construction techniques and materials that meet international standards. Through this symposium, the goal of strengthening collaboration among government, industry and academia to elevate India's aviation infrastructure to world‑class status has been made clear.
