CSIR-NIScPR's CDTKE-2026 international conference provided a platform for extensive discussions on the preservation of traditional knowledge and its modern applications, and also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge.

The Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) subsidiary, the National Institute for the Study of Classical Knowledge and Practices (NISCPR), successfully concluded this year’s “Conference on Differentiated Transfer of Traditional Knowledge and Applications 2026” (CDTK‑2026). More than 1,200 researchers, scholars, and industry experts from over 50 countries attended this international forum, presenting the latest research outcomes in diverse fields such as Ayurveda, yoga, Vedic science, traditional agriculture, and indigenous medicines. The main sessions focused on preserving traditional knowledge on digital platforms, validating medicinal properties through biotechnology, and policy‑making to strengthen the rights of local communities.

At the closing ceremony, the head of the Ministry of Science and Technology highlighted the 25‑year anniversary of the “Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge” (IJTK). Established in 1999, the journal has evolved into an internationally recognized publication on traditional science and has published more than 1,000 original research articles to date. On this occasion, the journal’s editorial board unveiled plans for the next five years, including open access, multilingual abstracts, and an international collaborative special issue, aimed at further cementing Indian traditional knowledge on the global stage.

CDTK‑2026 not only reinforced the revival of traditional knowledge within the scientific community but also strengthened collaborative networks among policymakers, industry, and local communities. In doing so, the conference laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of traditional science and its socio‑economic benefits in the future.
