The Indian Navy has received delivery of the latest anti‑submarine warship “Amini”, which will significantly enhance maritime security and anti‑submarine capabilities.
** The construction of the latest anti-submarine warfare ship “Amini” under India’s maritime security strategy has been completed and handed over to the Indian Navy. The warship was built at premier shipyards in India, where modern stealth technology, advanced side-scan sonar and long-range anti-submarine torpedo systems have been integrated. “Amini” is equipped with a dedicated helicopter deck and hangar capability to operate anti-submarine helicopters, allowing her to provide continuous surveillance and rapid response for many hours at sea.
Naval experts believe that the arrival of “Amini” will prove helpful in balancing Indian maritime power, especially in the light of increasing competition in the Indian Ocean. The warship is designed to provide high efficiency in detection, tracking and engagement of enemy submarines, thereby strengthening the security of maritime trade routes. This delivery will significantly enhance the deployment capability of the Anti-Submarine Division of the Indian Navy and is expected to actively contribute to many multi-national maritime security exercises in the future.
The delivery of “Amini” has been welcomed by the Indian Defense Ministry underlining its national security importance and saying that the move is an important milestone towards strengthening India's indigenous naval capabilities. Thus, the new anti-submarine force will not only strengthen India's strategic position in the maritime domain, but also promote regional stability and cooperation.
