The Department of Industry and Trade has announced a comprehensive campaign aimed at improving office cleanliness, reducing pending cases, and better managing records, with the goal of enhancing administrative efficiency and transparency.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (DPIIT) of the central government has outlined a special campaign, wherein the physical cleanliness of departmental offices, prompt settlement of pending cases, and modernization of the digital record‑management system will serve as key pillars. The primary objective of this initiative is to make the workplace environment health‑safe, minimize delays in administrative processes, and ensure accuracy and availability of data. Under the campaign, regular cleaning inspections will be conducted in all central and state‑level DPIIT offices, a Clean‑Intensity Rating (CIR) will be implemented, and corrective action will be taken on unsatisfactory results. Additionally, the list of pending cases will be migrated to a digital platform, and a case‑tracking dashboard will be established, allowing each case's status to be viewed in real‑time.

In recent years, DPIIT has faced criticism in several reports due to case backlog and inefficiency of paper records. In this context, the department has decided to implement a cloud‑based record‑keeping system in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology (IT), which will make document security, retrieval, and sharing easier. Experts believe that this campaign will not only reduce employees' workload but also provide entrepreneurs and investors with faster and more reliable services, marking an important step toward improving India's business environment.
