Historic achievement: 11 crore farmers receive Farmer ID security shield on PM Modi's pledge

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pledged during his tenure to establish a robust digital identification system for farmers. To realize this goal, the government has relaunched the National Farmer ID (FID) platform with advanced security protocols, now enabling more than 11 crore small and large farmers to benefit from the system. This security shield incorporates encryption‑based data protection, two‑factor authentication, and blockchain‑like ledger technology, safeguarding personal and financial information linked to the Farmer ID from unauthorized access. Under this initiative, farmers can securely view and manage their identity, land records, seed and fertilizer subsidies, crop insurance, and agricultural loan status on a single digital portal.

Farmers’ organizations have welcomed this step, as it significantly reduces the likelihood of data tampering and fraud by intermediaries. Agricultural experts believe the Farmer ID security shield will not only enhance transparency in benefit distribution but also prove instrumental in expanding digital financial services. Moreover, state governments will now be able to implement agriculture‑related schemes more targetedly and promptly through this platform, increasing the prospects for sustainable improvement in the rural economy.
