Government support, technological collaboration, and foreign investment converging in India's semiconductor industry have established it as a major international hub, as Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav explained.

India’s semiconductor ecosystem has developed rapidly in recent years, making it a focal point of attraction for global companies and investors. Government‑implemented Production‑Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, special economic zones, and funding for research and development have helped domestic manufacturers advance technologically and increase production capacity. This policy environment has encouraged international chip makers to set up production units in India, taking a significant step toward diversifying the supply chain and reducing risk.

Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav, one of the leading strategic advisors in the sector, said that India has emerged not merely as a consumer but as an active manufacturer and innovation hub. He noted a rise in collaborations with American, European and Asian companies, encompassing partnerships in design, wafer fabrication and packaging technologies. Large firms such as TSMC, Intel and Samsung have prioritized local partnerships to strengthen their presence in the Indian market, while major Taiwanese foundries and newer companies like Tesla have planned production facilities in India.

Alongside these developments, India has also bolstered educational institutions and the start‑up ecosystem, ensuring the availability of a skilled workforce. Nationally established chip design centers and research laboratories have accelerated innovation, while private investors have increased funding for AI‑driven design and advanced materials science. This comprehensive progress has not only empowered the domestic electronics industry but also positioned India as a strategic partner on the global semiconductor map, promising significant benefits in both future exports and technological self‑reliance.
