In the two‑day labor dialogue held in Lucknow, representatives of the government, industry leaders, and labor unions engaged in an in‑depth discussion on issues related to the Labor Code, labor welfare, and social security, expressing hope to strengthen policy guidelines.
The state government organized a two‑day state‑level “Labour Dialogue” program in Lucknow, where detailed discussions were held on key issues related to the Labour Code, labour welfare, and social security. The forum included senior officials from the State Labour Department, representatives from industry associations, leaders of trade unions, social workers, and academic experts. The purpose of the program was to clarify the implementation process of the latest labour laws, outline effective measures for workers’ welfare, and develop collective strategies to expand coverage of social security.
On the first day, a comprehensive presentation was given on the major provisions of the Labour Code, such as employment contracts, minimum wages, working hours, and management of social security funds. Experts explained that an integrated monitoring system and digital platform at the state level are required for effective implementation, enabling workers to easily access information about their rights. The second day focused on labour welfare schemes, including health insurance, pension plans, and skill development training. Representatives from various industrial sectors suggested that providing special incentives to small and medium enterprises could broaden social security coverage.
At the conclusion of the event, the State Labour Minister expressed commitment to implementing the action plan developed as a result of the dialogue and appealed for cooperation from all stakeholders. He said that such dialogues would increase transparency in policy making and improve the living standards of workers. At the program’s closing, participants proposed organizing similar forums regularly in the future, thereby taking concrete steps toward continuous improvement of labour policy and social justice.
