Prime Minister outlined India’s digital future direction, 5G network expansion, and development of mobile technology under the Make in India initiative at the opening ceremony of the 10th India Mobile Congress.

New Delhi – At the inauguration ceremony of the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) held in Delhi, the Prime Minister delivered a detailed address in which he outlined the government’s key policies and objectives for advancing India’s digital ecosystem. The Prime Minister said, “India has the world’s largest mobile user base, and our priority is to empower this vast population with high‑speed 5G networks, reliable internet connectivity, and secure digital services.” He reiterated the target of increasing 5G coverage to 70 percent by 2025 and highlighted ongoing frequency allocation, tower construction, and collaboration with domestic manufacturers as pivotal steps.

The address also emphasized digital literacy, the startup ecosystem, and mobile hardware and software development under the Make in India initiative. The Prime Minister noted, “Under our ‘Digital India’ programme, special schemes are being implemented to ensure broadband access in all rural areas by 2026, with Indian companies given priority in this process.” He mentioned new funds, startup incubation centres, and opportunities for international collaboration to spur innovation in the Indian telecom sector.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister urged all partners, technology companies, and policymakers to work together toward “digital empowerment,” enabling India to become a global leader in mobile technology. He stressed that security and data privacy must be top priorities and that the regulatory framework will be strengthened to create a “trustworthy digital environment.” This address provided clear guidance for the 10th edition of the IMC, accelerating the pace of progress in India’s mobile and digital industries in the years ahead.
