The Prime Minister, through video conferencing at the inauguration ceremony of the 20th National Employment Fair, presented to the youth the framework of new policies and schemes for employment, skill development and entrepreneurship.
The nation’s premier employment fair, which is set to celebrate its 20th edition this year, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister via video conferencing. The fair is organized in collaboration with various state governments, industry associations, and academic institutions, with the primary aim of linking youth to employment opportunities, strengthening skill training, and promoting entrepreneurship. For the first time since the pandemic, the fair was held entirely in a digital format, enabling participants from rural and remote areas to benefit from the platform without traveling.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the steps being taken toward India’s economic revival and specifically mentioned new policies for job creation. His original remarks were as follows:
> “My dear young comrades, today we are here at the 20th National Employment Fair to pledge to realize your dreams. The government has accelerated the ‘Skill India 2030’ initiative, ensuring that every young person gets the opportunity to acquire at least two vocational skills. Under the new ‘Startup Ecosystem’ scheme, we will provide financial assistance and mentorship to 5 lakh new startups, and through the ‘Employment Guarantee’ scheme we aim to secure permanent jobs for 1 crore youth over the next two years. In this direction, the central and state governments will work together with industries to increase coordination, turning employment opportunities into reality. Your enthusiasm, your hard work, and your innovation will take India to new heights on the global economic stage.”
After the address, industry representatives and academic institutions participating in the fair praised the initiative, noting that the digital platform has made it possible to reach a larger youth audience. The government stated that, based on the fair’s outcomes, necessary policy adjustments will be made in the coming months to further accelerate job creation. This initiative will not only help reduce current unemployment but also position India as a leader in global competition.
