Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the India Renewable Energy Summit and Exhibition 2026 held in New Delhi, emphasized the need for sustainable development and international cooperation in the energy sector.

At the inauguration ceremony of the India Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026, held today at the Radisson Hotel in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited leading global energy experts, industrialists and representatives of multilateral organisations to the guest list. The summit aims to create a platform to boost India’s renewable energy capacity, accelerate technology transfer and attract foreign investment. The Prime Minister said the event aligns with India’s national energy policy, which targets 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

During the summit, the Government of India announced new initiatives, including incentives of up to 100 GW for solar power, a target of up to 150 GW for wind power, and the inclusion of a new policy framework for hydroelectric and biomass projects. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of cooperation with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA), and noted that India’s “Solar India” initiative has already achieved an installed capacity of more than 40 GW.

In his inaugural speech, the Prime Minister also emphasized that startups and research institutions will receive special incentives to promote innovation in the renewable energy sector during the summit. He said the summit will create significant opportunities for job creation and rural development in the energy sector. The exhibition at the summit will showcase new technologies, energy storage solutions and the latest models of smart grid systems, aiming to encourage domestic and foreign investors to invest in India’s energy landscape.
