Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had an extensive discussion with the leaders and athletes of the Indian contingent participating in the 2026 Asian Para Games. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Sports, the Government of India’s Paralympic Committee, and various sports federations. The Prime Minister praised the athletes’ rigorous preparation, the availability of training facilities, and their readiness to compete at the international level. He specifically thanked those athletes who had achieved remarkable results in the previous Paralympics and Asian Para Games, and assured a strengthening of government support to further improve India’s performance in the upcoming Games.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister introduced several new initiatives to advance inclusive sports policies. He explained that the government has allocated additional funds to improve sports infrastructure, establish specialized training centres, and ensure top‑level medical and nutritional services for athletes. He also discussed plans to enhance awareness of Paralympic sports at the national level by fostering cooperation with educational institutions and the media. On this occasion, the Ministry of Sports presented details of India’s potential medal target for the 2026 Asian Para Games and the strategic preparation of key competitors, making it clear that the government is providing comprehensive support to make athletes competitive on the world stage.

Through these measures, India aims not only to win the highest number of medals at the Asian Para Games but also to emphasize social inclusion and the empowerment of persons with disabilities through Paralympic sports. The Prime Minister’s initiative is expected to give the Indian Paralympic team the necessary motivation and resources to elevate their performance to new heights on the international stage.
