The Prime Minister, recalling Acharya Vinoba Bhave's social and spiritual contributions, pledged to advance his ideals at a ceremony held at the national level.
In a special event held in the national capital, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on the occasion of his anniversary. The ceremony was attended by several prominent political and social leaders, where the Prime Minister praised Bhave’s contributions as a brother‑activist, social reformer, and pioneer of nationalist ideology. He said that Vinoba Bhave’s brother movement, land donation (Bhudaan), and principles of non‑violent social change remain relevant in present‑day India, especially in the areas of rural development and sustainable agriculture. The Prime Minister, linking the government’s new rural revitalization initiative with Bhave’s values, said that “our policies should be inspired by his principles of social justice and inclusive development.”
Acharya Vinoba Bhave, who is called the “Mahatma Gandhi of India,” gave away lakh acres of land to poor farmers as part of the Bhudaan movement in the 1950s. His idea was that social harmony and economic equality could be achieved through non‑violence and moral strength. On this occasion, various universities and social organizations organized educational sessions on his life and work, reviewing his writings, journals, and lectures.
The Prime Minister, in closing, urged all attendees to adopt Acharya’s ideals and pass them on to the next generation. He also said that the government will implement special schemes in the coming years to strengthen land redistribution, educational literacy, and social justice in rural areas, thereby reviving the spirit of Vinoba Bhave’s “Bhudaan” in modern India.
