The Prime Minister, on the occasion of the India‑Tibet Border Police (ITBP) establishment day, congratulated the personnel and praised their contribution to national security and sustainable development.

India-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) highlighted its achievements alongside major national security agencies during its annual foundation day ceremony. On the occasion, the Prime Minister congratulated all ITBP personnel and remarked that their dedication and courage in safeguarding the Himalayan frontier are indispensable to protecting the nation’s sovereignty. He added that amid escalating risks from climate change, terrorism, and natural disasters, ITBP’s multifaceted role—such as mountain rescue, climate monitoring, and border control—has become even more critical.

The Prime Minister, while shedding light on ITBP’s history and evolution, noted that the force, established in 1965, initially focused solely on border security, whereas today it is also active in environmental protection, advanced mountaineering training, and public safety. He stated that the government will continue to invest in modern equipment, technological upgrades, and training facilities to ensure the effectiveness and safety of its soldiers.

The ceremony featured several senior officers and veterans who shared their experiences, including examples of rescue operations in harsh Himalayan weather and efforts to thwart terrorist incursions along the border. This year’s theme, “Convergence of Security and Sustainable Development,” underscored the need for environmental stability alongside national security. The Prime Minister appealed to all ITBP personnel to maintain their diligence and remain steadfast in their continuous efforts for India’s peace and prosperity.
