Revenue Intelligence Directorate takes action against gold smuggling on the India‑Bangladesh border; seizes over 8.3 kilograms of foreign gold; arrests 4 individuals.

Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) seized more than 8.3 kilograms of foreign gold on the India‑Bangladesh border in a coordinated operation against gold smuggling and arrested four persons. This action is part of ongoing efforts against the smuggling network operating at the border, under which customs and revenue police used intelligence and technical assistance to block illegal transactions. The seized gold was mainly imported from Bangladesh and was planned to be sold illegally in the Indian market.

In this operation, coordination among customs, revenue police and intelligence agencies played a crucial role. Officials had already identified smuggling patterns through reporting and monitoring of suspicious activities. Along with the seized gold, related documents and transport vehicles were also confiscated, enabling the tracing of the entire smuggling network. The four arrested persons include two foreign nationals and two Indian nationals, who have been charged with smuggling.

The Revenue Intelligence Directorate said this operation is a significant step to enhance border security and stop the illegal flow of gold. Moreover, the action was taken to reduce the negative impact of smuggling on the Indian economy and to safeguard national wealth. In the future, the agency plans to announce additional measures to further strengthen border monitoring and increase international cooperation.
