The Food and Public Distribution Department today concluded its Special Campaign‑6 successfully, providing essential grains, pulses, and nutrient‑rich food items to poor rural and urban families.

Food and Public Distribution Department Officially Concludes Special Campaign‑6

The Food and Public Distribution Department (FFD) has formally concluded the Special Campaign‑6 that has been running recently. This campaign was implemented for the sixth time following five similar initiatives launched over the past two years, with the primary objective of ensuring the availability of grains, oil, and pulses at affordable prices for economically weaker sections. During this period, the department targeted 1.8 crore beneficiaries, primarily comprising migrant workers, small farmers, and families in urban slum areas. Under the campaign, 25 tonnes of wheat, 15 tonnes of rice, 8 tonnes of pulses, and 3 tonnes of vegetable oil were distributed, along with the organization of nutrition awareness workshops.

The department head stated that Special Campaign‑6 has brought significant improvements in food security, especially in areas where income has declined since the pandemic. Compared to previous years, there was a notable increase in the speed and transparency of distribution, which has boosted trust among beneficiaries. Additionally, the integration of the digital ration card system reduced errors in the distribution process and minimized the risk of corruption.

With the campaign's conclusion, the department also shed light on future strategies. The next phase plans to implement additional schemes specifically targeting the nutrition of women and children, while promoting alternative crop management that takes into account the impacts of climate change. The department said it will continuously update beneficiaries' needs through ongoing monitoring and evaluation, to ensure steady progress toward food security.
