Central Minister Dr. Veerendra Kumar launched the VAYO Samman National Campaign today at the national level, with the primary aim of strengthening intergenerational relationships in India. The campaign seeks to enhance social harmony through respect for the elderly and active participation of the youth. During the program, the minister stated, “For the progress of society, it is essential that we value the experiences of our elders and share them with the younger generation.”
Under the campaign, the government has proposed several initiatives. First, a “Elder‑Youth Dialogue Forum” will be established, to be held once a month at the state level. Additionally, an online portal will be opened on a digital platform under the hashtag #VAYO_Samman for video interviews, stories, and experiences. This portal will give young people opportunities to spend time with their elders, document their memories, and revive family traditions.
Moreover, the government has pledged to launch “Memory‑Literacy Workshops” in collaboration with social workers, schools, and colleges. These workshops will include interactive sessions to transmit the cultural and historical knowledge of the elderly to the youth. Under the “Social Harmony and Inclusive Development” policy issued in 2026, the campaign will be implemented in more than 1,000 villages and urban areas, where special “Respect Centers” for the elderly will be opened.
Dr. Veerendra Kumar also added that this campaign will not only strengthen family bonds but will also re‑recognize the role of the elderly in society and foster empathy and social responsibility among the younger generation. Thus, the VAYO Samman National Campaign has been established as a new social initiative for Indian society.
