The Technology Development Board (TDB) has decided to close the call for proposals under the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) scheme. The board has taken this step to adjust the budget, reassess policy, and ensure the quality of proposals.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) today issued an official statement announcing that the ongoing invitation for proposals under the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme has been temporarily suspended. The board said that this decision was taken after reviewing the budget allocation for the current fiscal year and to ensure that the standards required for the objectives of the RDI Scheme are met.

A spokesperson for TDB clarified that the purpose of closing the invitation for proposals is to ensure that the proposals received are not only technically competent but also aligned with policy. The board also noted that at this stage some proposals were found lacking in regulatory compliance and intellectual property protection aspects. Additionally, the board mentioned that the financial resources available under the RDI Scheme are currently being reallocated to support more targeted and effective projects in the future.

TDB assured that once the invitation for proposals reopens, a detailed notice will be published outlining eligibility criteria, the application process, and timelines. The board also added that during this reassessment all stakeholders will be invited to provide suggestions and feedback, so that the RDI Scheme can become even more transparent and inclusive. Through this step, TDB aims to promote high quality and competitiveness in the field of innovation.
