Singapore and India successfully concluded the 33rd Simbex exercise this year, during which the navies of both countries strengthened advanced joint operational capabilities and mutual cooperation.

Singapore‑India Maritime Bilateral Exercise, known as Symbex‑2026, successfully concluded its 33rd iteration this year. Initiated in 1993, the exercise is held annually to enhance strategic partnership and operational efficiency between the navies of both countries. This year, 12 Indian Navy ships and 8 Singapore Navy vessels conducted operations on maritime routing, joint torpedo deployment, and joint Enemy Identification and Response (IAR).

During Symbex‑2026, both navies tested advanced maritime communication protocols, real‑time data‑sharing systems, and joint Enemy Identification and Response capabilities. The Indian Navy commander noted that the exercise deepened mutual confidence in maritime security, emergency response, and joint logistical support. Singapore’s naval chief stated that the exercise serves as a crucial platform for regional maritime stability and mutual cooperation, and plans to continue it in the future.

The 33rd edition of Symbex, declared "successful and instructive" by senior officials from both countries, further strengthened the navies’ readiness to face future maritime challenges. Both parties agreed that the scope of the exercise will be expanded in coming years to include cybersecurity, drone‑based maritime surveillance, and joint training programs. Thus, Symbex‑2026 not only set new heights in maritime security but also provided a new direction for regional partnership.
