The Delhi South Commissioner’s office has exposed a company that abused more than ₹15.78 crore in Input Tax Credit (ITC) in a major tax evasion case and has taken its chief partner into custody.

The CGST Delhi South Commissioner’s office recently confirmed, after a detailed investigation, that a private company had abused the exemptions in the tax system to benefit from input tax credit (ITC) exceeding 15.78 crore rupees. During the investigation it was found that the company deceived the tax department through false invoices, fake supplier profiles, and fictitious transactions. In the process, the company repeatedly claimed excess ITC in its tax returns, causing serious damage to tax revenue.

The company’s principal partner, whose name was not disclosed, was found to have played a leading role in the fraud and was immediately arrested. Authorities said that after the arrest, the partner was kept under stringent interrogation, and further investigations are identifying other accomplices and potential cooperative entities. In this case, the involved audit and digital forensic teams performed detailed tracing of electronic transactions, revealing the fraud patterns.

The tax department has presented this incident as a stern message against tax evasion. Officials said that to prevent similar frauds in the future, the ITC claim process will be made more transparent and accurate through strengthened technical measures. The tax‑payer community was also urged to remain vigilant and understand the importance of legitimate documentation, so that the reliability of the tax system is maintained.
