NI-MSME has provided comprehensive support to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises through training, technical assistance, and the availability of digital tools under a new initiative.
The National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) has, under its recent scheme, focused specifically on the three pillars of capacity building, entrepreneurship development, and digital empowerment to strengthen the MSME sector. The institute has organized workshops on technical training, managerial skills, and market entry strategies, targeting more than 1,200 micro, small and medium enterprises across the country. These programs include practical modules specifically aimed at increasing efficiency in production processes, adopting quality standards, and strengthening export potential. After the training, many entrepreneurs have adopted new technologies in their businesses, recording a reduction of 15‑20 percent in production costs and a notable increase in sales.
In the digital empowerment aspect, NI-MSME has provided special assistance to connect entrepreneurs with e‑commerce platforms, digital payment systems, and cloud‑based management software. Through its partner agencies, small industries have been offered free ERP solutions, online marketing tools, and data analytics training, which has expanded their market reach and diversified their customer base. Additionally, cyber‑security awareness programs are being conducted to secure digital transactions, thereby increasing entrepreneurs' confidence.
As a result of these comprehensive efforts, increased investment attraction and notable progress in job creation are being observed in the MSME sector. Experts believe that if such a multi‑dimensional strategy is implemented continuously, the global competitiveness of India's micro, small and medium enterprises will become even stronger. NI-MSME's initiative will not only accelerate economic development but also make a significant contribution to achieving the goals of Digital India.
