In the two‑day labour dialogue held in Lucknow, the government, industry representatives and labour unions discussed in detail the implementation of the Labour Code, welfare measures and social security, thereby attempting to strengthen policy guidelines.

The state government organized a two‑day ‘Labour Dialogue’ programme in Lucknow, in which major issues related to the labour code, labour welfare and social security were deliberated. The forum included the head of the Labour Department, representatives of the Industry and Trade Chamber, national and state‑level trade unions, and social security experts. The main objective of the programme was to understand the practical challenges arising in the implementation of the new labour code and to develop a collaborative framework for solutions.

In the first‑day session, detailed explanations were given on various provisions of the labour code—such as employment contracts, workplace safety, minimum wages and social security coverage. Experts said that the code aims to strengthen workers’ rights and promote job creation, but small and medium enterprises are facing difficulties in compliance. During the discussion, industry representatives requested government support for technical assistance, training and an adaptation period.

The second‑day session focused on expanding labour welfare and social security schemes. Discussions were held on plans to broaden measures such as health insurance, pension schemes and accidental injury insurance to provide protection to vulnerable groups. Trade unions emphasized the need to strengthen awareness programmes for workers and grievance‑redressal mechanisms. At the close of the dialogue, all parties resolved to form a working group that will monitor policy reforms in the coming months and recommend necessary amendments. This initiative aims to make labour policies effective at the state level and to protect workers
