In a Karnataka ESIC hospital, 37 contract employees were reappointed after a successful reconciliation process, and payment of their outstanding wages of 7.40 lakh rupees was also ensured.

A decision to re‑employ 37 contract staff at the Karnataka State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital and settle their pending salaries was taken after a successful reconciliation process. This step was made possible through talks between the hospital management and employee representatives, in which both sides agreed to a mutual understanding.

The appointment of contract staff in ESIC hospitals often changes due to budget constraints and fluctuations in workload. This time, the dispute arising from the employees’ dismissal was resolved through mediation. The hospital’s board of directors said that after the reconciliation the staff will be rehired and their pending salary of 7.40 lakh rupees will be settled. The employees’ union accepted the decision, stating that the move is important for protecting workers’ rights and improving the hospital’s service quality.

The decision will not only provide financial relief to the staff but also enhance stability in the hospital’s medical services. The hospital chief said that steps will be taken to increase transparency and predictability in contract procedures to avoid such disputes in the future. This move strengthens cooperation between the Karnataka government and ESIC while demonstrating institutional responsibility toward workers.
