The Lok Sabha Speaker said that dialogue, respect for diverse opinions, and active citizen participation are essential for strengthening democracy, and presented a framework of steps to realize these principles in Parliament.

The Lok Sabha Speaker stated in the recent session that the fundamental basis of a robust democracy is open dialogue, respect for diverse social classes and ideologies, and meaningful participation of the people. He noted that the Parliament is not only a platform for legislative work but also a center for national dialogue, where listening to various opinions and evaluating them appropriately strengthens democratic processes. The Speaker also emphasized that policy-making, while balancing diverse views, is not only the responsibility of legislators but also reinforces citizens’ trust.

Alongside these remarks, the Speaker proposed measures to strengthen several aspects of the Parliament. He stressed the need for transparent question periods, public hearings, and direct communication with the public through digital platforms. In particular, a plan was presented to involve citizens from rural and remote areas in the decision‑making process by using online public forums and visionary technologies. Additionally, he suggested inviting representatives of various social groups to special sessions to incorporate their perspectives into legislative discussions.

Political parties welcomed the Speaker’s statements, asserting that the credibility of democratic institutions will increase only when the public has a genuine voice in policy‑making. Experts believe that the steps taken in this direction will not only enhance the functionality of Parliament but also promote awareness and participation in democratic values among citizens. Thus, by making dialogue, diversity, and public participation the main pillars, India’s democracy is evolving into a stronger and more inclusive form.
